My comp keeps crashing?

my computer has started to crash when i am watching a movie or listening to music on my space... when it crashes it just stays on the screen..in effect it freezes the screen then i have to reset my comp...well doing my head in.......its not just my space its a lot of other programs....p4 256 mem 20 gig hard drive...not sure of the rest..lol
