The recent pursuit of democracy?

Nice question. The only hole I see in it is that the recent overthrowing of Middle Eastern governments hasn't led to democracies sprouting up in the affected countries. Sure the media has implied that it may be so. But for the most part there haven't been leaders of the uprisings that have come forward and clearly stated that democracy is their main objective. So what should we do? Absolutely nothing. We can send aid and we can back the protesters in spirit. But as of late we have shown that as the beacon of democracy around the world. Even we, the United States of America, arguably the greatest nation on the face of the planet, can't seem to make democracy work within our own borders. The two waring factions on the left and right claim to have all the answers and in the end make a bigger mess than what they started with. With the people left to bear the burden of failed political policies by both.
