Why is he doing this stuff?

So basically, I had a bf and he told me he was tired of giving into my whim and that he didn't want anything from me anymore. That was about two weeks ago. When I saw him a week ago, he hugged me like normal and asked me what was up, and then tried to get me to smoke a cigarette with him and when I said no, he said to inhale the smoke he was exhaling (I said no to that to) Why is he acting like that? I don't get it.
