I think this is the real reasoning behind the Lost Ending (Spoilers)?

It seems to me like the ending, while leaving a lot of questions unanswered, was a pretty good choice. I can't remember where I read this, but I remember reading a quote once from I think the writers for Lost that said something along the lines of "In Star Wars you have this mystical thing called The Force and over the last 3 movies you dont really hear much about it but then in the 1st episode of Star Wars they explain that The Force is really these things called "mitacholorian" in our bloodstreams and yada yada" its only by removing the mysticism behind something that you start getting into a gray area. If left opened to the interpretation of the audience to fill in the gaps. If you think about it the show Lost in general has been about making your own hypothesis and coming to your own conclusions on things and them giving you just enough to come up with fresh ones. I mean, who didnt suspect the whole purgatory thing from at least season 2-3? I think the writers realized that the audience might be zoning in on their secret so they added some things into the mix to make you THINK you might be right but at the same time new elements were added that make you step back and think again. While the ending wasnt that suprising I wish they had gone more into explaining the Island cause really...thats why we tuned in.
